Ana's Visit to the LLC

One bright morning just after Easter, Richard and I (Ana) embark on a journey filled with purpose. With the sun casting its warm glow, we board the bus bound for the Lighthouse Learning Center. Our excitement palpable, we look forward to a day of meaningful engagement with our teachers, pupils and their parents and guardians.

As we arrive, parents greet us with big smiles, setting the stage for a day filled with warmth and excitement at the school. Mary Blanche, the school administrator, welcomes us too and makes us feel right at home.

Our aim today isn't just to tell stories, but to spread joy. Richard and I find the perfect storybook to start our adventure. In Teacher April's class, where the children are shy but eager to hear the story, Richard's lively reading of "The Cat In The Hat" grabs their attention. Their hesitant looks turn into big, curious eyes as they dive into Dr. Seuss's world. Excited, we head to Teacher Essa's class, where Richard's stories keep them engaged. The children, still shy but getting more interested, hang on to his every word, letting their imaginations run free. Amidst everything, memories of my own childhood flood back.

Later, I have the pleasure of meeting Sylvanya, a lively pupil, and her French dad, which added to the fun. Their laughter filled the room, showing that joy doesn't need words.

During the lunch break, we connect with the teachers, feeling their passion for shaping young minds. Afterwards, Richard takes the lead in giving us a lively and an intensive English lesson on reported speech, turning learning into a joyful experience for all of us. His enthusiasm and engaging teaching style makes it truly enjoyable to learn from him.

As the afternoon sun casts a warm glow over the school grounds, our adventure continues in Teacher Vangie’s vibrant classroom. Laughter and music fill the air as we dance and sing alongside the children, feeling carefree and joyful.

Thereafter, encountering Ms. Gel, a strong and resilient mother, is truly uplifting, especially given the recent loss of her husband. Despite facing such a profound loss, her courage and determination shine through. Through her daughter, Serenity, and Serenity's cousin, Mary Grace, we witness the unwavering power of love and support in times of adversity. Ms. Gel's story serves as a beacon of hope, reminding us that even in our darkest moments, there is strength to be found in the bonds of family and community.

As I reflect on my day at Lighthouse Learning Center, I am filled with gratitude for the dedicated teachers, supportive parents, and enthusiastic children who have had a profound impact on me today.

Join me in supporting this vibrant community as we light the way to a brighter future for all. Together, let's continue to come together in support of our Lighthouse Learning Center and spread hope and opportunity for the next generation. By uniting, we can pave the way for a brighter tomorrow, where every child has the opportunity to thrive and succeed.
